                REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A MARRIAGE LICENSE (18 yrs of age or older)

         OFFICE HRS FOR MARRIAGE APPLICATIONS: MON-FRI  8am to 11:30am and 1pm to 4pm.

1.  Both parties must be present to make application.

2.  Fee is $53.00 cash (NO CHECKS).

3.  Both parties must provide a Driver's License, State ID or Certified Copy of Birth Certificate.

4.  If either party was previously married and divorced, they must provide a copy of their most recent Divorce Decree.

5.  The female (if under the age of 50) is required to submit to a Reubella Blood Test  and provide the State Board of Health Pre-Marital Certificate at time of application or the bride and groom must sign an Informed Consent/Waiver of Requirement of Blood Test provided by the Clerk of Court's office.

6.  To complete the application, the parties must know the full name of  their parents (mother's maiden name) and place of birth.

 

 

                  THE LICENSE IS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND WILL EXPIRE IN 180 DAYS

            REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A MARRIAGE LICENSE (UNDER 18 YRS OF AGE)

1.  Both parties must be 16 yrs of age or older (Montana Law does not allow marriages under age 16)

2.  Both parties must be present to make application.

3.  Fee is $53.00 in cash (NO CHECKS).

4.  Both parties must provide a Driver's License, State ID  or Certified Copy of Birth Certificate.

5.  If either party was previously married and divorced, they must provide a copy of the most recent Divorce Decree.

6.  The female is required to submit to a Reubella Blood Test and must provide the State Board of Health Pre-marital certificate at the time of application or the bride and groom must sign an Informed Consent/ Waiver of Requirement Blood Test provided by the Clerk of Court's office.

7.   Each party inder the age of 18 must provide a notarized Consent for Minor Form signed by both parents.  If one parent has legal guardianship or has been awared sole custody, then only that parent needs to sign.

8.  Both parties must attend 2 counseling sessions, not less that 10 days apart, with a marriage or family counselor or minister.  The parties must have a signed affidavit from the counselor or minister stating that counseling has occured and the dates.

9.  Both parties must obtain Judical Consent for a District Court Judge.

AFTER YOU ARE MARRIED, AND THE LICENSE IS COMPLETED AND HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE CLERK OF COURT'S OFFICE, YOU MAY RETURN TO THE CLERK'S OFFICE FOR 4 FREE CERTIFIED COPIES.  THE ORIGINAL LICENSE WILL BE RECORDED AND MICROFILMED AND RETURNED TO YOU.  ONCE THE LICENSE IS RETURNED TO YOU, EACH ADDITIONAL CERTIFIED COPY WILL COST $7.00 EACH.
