Welcome to Cascade County

Our goals are to provide an informative, service-oriented point of access to all county government resources and to inform the public of the range of services available. Whether you live in Cascade County or are planning a visit, stop by often to discover our latest offerings.

Flood Information

Flooding in our county has historically been caused by rapid snowmelt combined with heavy rainfall in the Sun and Missouri River Basins as well as along with the Belt and Sand Coulee Creek Basins causing the Sand Coulee Creek, Belt Creek, Missouri River and the Sun River to leave their banks. Floodwaters can cover much of the county and are very dangerous. Even though they appear to move slowly (3 feet per second), a flood two feet deep can knock a man off his feet and float a car. Your property may be high enough that it has not flooded in the past. However, it can still be at risk for future flooding. Contact the County Floodplain Administrator at 454-6905 to determine if your property is in a floodplain.

For more information, see the Flood Information page.
